The German Foreign Minister, Johann Wadephul, announced on Saturday in Kiev significant financial support for Ukraine during a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha.
Wadephul emphasized the positive outcomes of discussions with European allies and the United States regarding Ukraine's air defense, noting that the urgency of air defense systems is crucial, considering the winter season and the risks of attacks on energy infrastructure. Germany will allocate 60 million euros, of which 50 million will be directed to humanitarian aid through UN organizations and NGOs, while 10 million euros will support the NATO assistance package.
The funds will be used for generators, energy sources for the Ukrainian army, equipping military hospitals, and drone combat systems. Wadephul reaffirmed the Western commitment to ensuring the rule of law prevails in the face of current challenges.
