Car registrations in Romania fell by 32.7% in May 2025, in contrast to growth in the rest of Europe.

Europe's car market grew by 1.9% in May 2025, but Romania reported a drastic 32.7% drop in car registrations, with only 10,521 units. In contrast, major European markets such as Spain and Germany saw increases. Also, 58.9% of cars registered in the EU were electric, up from 48.9% last year. The Renault group saw a 4.6% increase, thanks to the Dacia brand, which grew by 13.2%.
