New car registrations in Romania decreased in July

Registrations of new cars in Romania recorded a significant decrease of 28.2% in July 2026 compared to the same period in 2025, according to preliminary data provided by the Association of Automobile Producers and Importers (APIA).


In contrast, 100% electric cars reported a growth of 58%. Additionally, electrified cars experienced a decrease of 20% in the same period. During the first seven months of 2026, the car market decreased by 5.5% compared to the previous year.


Dacia remains the market leader, with 3,286 units registered in July, followed by Toyota (1,238 units) and Skoda (802 units). The most popular models were Dacia Logan, Dacia Sandero, and Dacia Duster.
