Automobile production in Romania fell by 10.9% in the first nine months of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025, reaching 355,715 units, according to data published by the Association of Automobile Manufacturers of Romania (ACAROM).

Of the total production, the Dacia plant in Mioveni manufactured 182,558 automobiles, while the Ford Otosan plant in Craiova produced 173,157 units. The data indicate a significant reduction in production volume compared with the previous year, amid difficulties related to orders.

In September 2026 alone, 45,776 passenger cars were produced in Romania. Dacia manufactured 23,355 units in Mioveni, while Ford Otosan produced 22,421 automobiles in Craiova.

The decline was also influenced by the situation at the Dacia plant, which halted operations for several days due to a lack of orders. The manufacturer also launched a voluntary redundancy program. The evolution of auto production remains dependent on order levels and the activity of Romania’s two major plants.
