The Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, stated that Romanians will not pay more for natural gas after April 1, even if the current capping mechanism expires on March 31. Ivan emphasized that the Executive is working on a new protection system for consumers, maintaining regulated tariffs to prevent price increases. Currently, the capped tariff is 0.31 lei/KWh. Additionally, authorities will provide financial support for consumers with very low incomes, during the period from October 1 to March 31, 2027.

Representatives of energy suppliers, such as Laurențiu Urluescu, argue that market liberalization could bring lower tariffs and healthier competition. Analyst Ana Otilia Nuțu warned about the possible financial implications of state intervention, mentioning that suppliers who purchased gas anticipating liberalization could suffer if market prices are higher.
