The Minister of Education announced that schools will receive recommendations in the event of drone incidents

Education Minister Mihai Dimian announced on Tuesday that all educational institutions in Romania will receive recommendations on how to respond in the event of drone incidents. The measures were established following a discussion with Secretary of State Raed Arafat, amid recent incidents involving such devices.

The recommendations, sent by the Department for Emergency Situations to the Ministry of Education, require schools to identify shelter areas in advance. Designated basements and interior rooms without windows or with as few windows as possible are recommended. The top floor is not recommended, as the roof would be the first area affected in the event of a direct impact.

If a RO-ALERT message is issued, school activities must be stopped immediately, and students must be calmly led to shelter areas, away from windows, balconies, exterior doors, glass walls, and facades. Children in the schoolyard or taking part in sports activities must be brought into the nearest building, without returning for personal belongings.

Students must remain indoors until the alert is officially lifted. Teachers must remain calm and provide clear, age-appropriate information. Parents must not pick up their children during the alert. The minister said the preparation is intended to prevent panic and increase awareness of responsibility.
