Deputy Prime Minister and acting Minister of Internal Affairs Cătălin Predoiu discussed in Bucharest on Thursday with European Commissioner Hadja Lahbib Romania’s preparedness for increasingly complex risks, including those posed by drones, and strengthening its emergency response capacity.
Raed Arafat also attended the meeting. Predoiu said that Romania is investing in modern capabilities, has well-trained rescuers and contributes to European solidarity in crisis management.
The talks took place during the official visit to Romania by the European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management. Hadja Lahbib also met with President Nicușor Dan and Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. The agenda included strengthening Romania’s and the European Union’s resilience, cooperation in crisis situations, and promoting equal opportunities and inclusion.
On Friday, 11 September, the European Commissioner was due to travel to Chișinău. The visit includes talks on the humanitarian and civil protection support provided by the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, as well as equality and non-discrimination in the accession process.
