The Minister of the Environment, Diana Buzoianu, stated that six out of the ten hydropower plants have received environmental approvals, while another three are awaiting permits. She highlighted the importance of objective analyses to avoid contested agreements in court. Buzoianu emphasized that the water flows used in studies are based on averages from 30 years ago, in the context of a dramatic decrease in water levels. In three months of her term, she approved one out of four pending agreements. Hydropower projects require between 26 and 36 months for completion.
