Inspectors from the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA), through the Ilfov Directorate for Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety (DSVSA), permanently withdrew 15,364 kilograms of non-compliant vegetables from commercial circulation following an inspection carried out on Wednesday at four logistics companies in Ilfov County. The products were received, stored and delivered to major retail platforms.

Following the inspections, the inspectors imposed fines totaling 24,000 lei and banned the operations of a company running a cold-storage facility and a packing unit. The storage areas had hygiene problems, while some products lacked identification elements needed to establish traceability.

One of the main irregularities was the substitution of the products’ origin. A batch of red Kapia peppers was labeled as originating from Romania, although its actual origin was Uzbekistan. The withdrawn products also included tomatoes, bell peppers, pickling cucumbers and white cabbage, which are to be destroyed or confiscated.

Samples were also collected to check for the possible presence of pesticide residues. ANSVSA announced that monitoring actions continue nationwide.
