The National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) issued contravention fines totaling more than 4.8 million lei and temporarily halted the sale of products worth more than 1 million lei following inspections carried out between September 28 and October 2.
Inspectors issued 804 warnings and ordered the definitive withdrawal from sale of non-compliant products worth more than 250,000 lei. In addition, the provision of services was suspended for 15 economic operators until the identified deficiencies were remedied.
The irregularities included unhygienic food preparation areas containing residue, impurities and grease; fruit and vegetables with mold or signs of bruising; meat with bloody fluid inside the packaging; and fish with heavy ice deposits. Inspectors also identified products stored at improper temperatures, rusty or worn equipment, and damaged refrigeration units. Foods lacking the information necessary to ensure traceability were also found.
