ANPC inspected more than 1,500 economic operators and issued fines totaling 3.8 million lei

Between November 2 and 6, commissioners from the National Authority for Consumer Protection inspected more than 1,500 economic operators across the country as part of checks on how products were marketed and the conditions offered to consumers.

Following the inspections, ANPC issued 838 administrative fines totaling more than 3.8 million lei, along with 642 warnings. The inspected products were worth more than 7.4 million lei, while goods worth more than one million lei were temporarily withdrawn from sale. For 14 economic operators, the provision of services was suspended until the deficiencies were remedied.

The irregularities identified included differences between the shelf price and the price shown on the receipt, incorrectly presented discounts, products missing from advertised offers, and incomplete information about textiles, footwear, toys, and decorations. Some products did not have Romanian-language translations or the CE marking.

In the food sector, inspectors found insects, ice buildup in the packaging of frozen products, improper storage temperatures, and food items without identification details. They also identified rusty equipment, worn utensils, food residues, grease deposits, and inadequate hygiene conditions.
