Four people aged between 29 and 43 were remanded in custody for 30 days by a decision of the Bucharest Tribunal in a case involving the trafficking of high-risk drugs and the establishment of an organized criminal group. The suspects are accused of having established and maintained several cannabis crops in Singureni commune, Giurgiu County.

According to DIICOT, the four allegedly acted between June and September under the coordination of a 43-year-old man considered the group’s leader. Investigators claim that the suspects obtained cannabis seeds from the Czech Republic, which were brought into Romania by air through a courier company. The seeds were allegedly used to establish indoor crops intended for sale.

Following the searches, the authorities seized more than 90 cannabis plants in various stages of development, approximately four kilograms of cannabis, and around 38 kilograms of dried plant material. Cannabis buds and equipment used to maintain the crops were also discovered.

Prosecutors ordered the suspects’ detention on Tuesday, and the judge for rights and liberties subsequently ordered their preventive arrest. The investigation was conducted together with border police officers from Bucharest-Otopeni Airports and from the General Inspectorate of the Border Police.
