Two men from Caraș-Severin County were detained by DIICOT prosecutors after one of them allegedly cultivated cannabis in the yard of his home for the purpose of selling it. The measure was ordered on October 16, 2026, following an investigation conducted by the Caraș-Severin Territorial Office.
According to the criminal investigation documents, the cultivation allegedly began and was developed over the course of 2026. Following three searches carried out on Thursday at properties used by the two men, investigators discovered cannabis plants in various stages of development, approximately 200 grams of cannabis, cocaine, grinders, documents and other evidence.
On Friday, prosecutors notified the judge for rights and freedoms at the Caraș-Severin Tribunal, proposing that the two men be placed in preventive detention for 30 days. The court is expected to decide on the preventive measure.
The operation was supported by officers from the Caraș-Severin County Police Inspectorate, gendarmes from the Caraș-Severin County Gendarmerie Inspectorate and officers from the Caraș-Severin Immigration Office. The evidence seized during the searches will be analyzed as part of the investigation.
