Two 24-year-old bartenders from Timiș County have been placed in preventive custody for drug trafficking after allegedly selling cannabis to young people, including students from Timișoara, as well as at private events.
Investigators tracked down the two after one of them allegedly sold drugs to an undercover police officer. According to DIICOT prosecutors, the first bartender allegedly began selling cannabis in 2021, including at events where he worked as a bartender or waiter. The second allegedly joined the operation this year and allegedly sold cannabis for up to 50 lei per gram.
Following searches at the two men’s homes, police discovered approximately 250 grams of cannabis, both loose and packaged in individual doses. They also seized grinders, precision scales and other objects bearing traces of the substance.
Investigators also found a crystalline substance and a substantial sum of money. The two were detained by DIICOT prosecutors, after which the court ordered their preventive detention. They are being investigated in a criminal case for trafficking in high-risk drugs and the unlawful possession of high-risk drugs for personal consumption.
