Worshippers who attended the feast day of the “Nativity of the Mother of God” Church in Pacea Parish, Botoșani County, were served pizza after the Divine Liturgy in an unusual gesture for such a celebration. The event took place on the church’s feast day, when church representatives wanted to offer parishioners not only a religious moment but also an opportunity for closeness and fellowship.
Instead of the stuffed cabbage rolls usually served at such events, 75 pizza boxes were ordered. After the service ended, worshippers lined up to receive a portion each.
Parish representatives explained that many of the parishioners are elderly, particularly pensioners with low incomes. For Father Marian Macuc and Priest Anamaria Macuc, supporting the community is part of a broader effort to remain close to the people in the parish.
The feast day thus combined the religious aspect with a social moment intended for the parishioners who attended the church celebration. The gesture drew attention because of its unusual nature, with pizza becoming, for one day, an alternative to traditional dishes.
