The National Trade Union Bloc (BNS) requested the rescheduling of the meeting of the National Tripartite Council for Social Dialogue (CNTDS) for Wednesday, at 11:00, at the Victoria Palace, accusing the Government of a "defective and lacking transparency" manner in the invitation. Instead, BNS is scheduled to participate in a meeting with the president of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, president of the Chamber of Deputies.
UPDATE: PSD requests the Government on Wednesday morning to implement a reduction of excise duties on fuels, alongside the already announced measures, arguing that the intervention came too late and that the effects are insufficient in relation to the recent price increases.
BNS supports that Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan has shown contempt for the institution of social dialogue, considering that the draft Emergency Ordinance to mitigate the impact of rising fuel prices has already been in the approval circuit without a real consultation.
"Moreover, the fact that, during yesterday, the Economic and Social Council did not approve the draft normative act, and social partners were forced to request the convening of the CNTDS, highlights once again the superficial and disrespectful attitude of the Government towards a subject of utmost importance, both for the population and for the business environment. In this context, BNS requested the rescheduling of the CNTDS meeting, considering that, along with the other four representative trade union confederations, it will participate in a meeting with the President of the Chamber of Deputies, previously scheduled before the CNTDS meeting," the unionists show.
According to the program announced by the President of the Chamber of Deputies, he will receive, starting at 10:30, leaders of the main trade union confederations in Romania: CNS Cartel ALFA, BNS, CNSLR Frăția, CSDR, CSN Meridian.
The Prime Minister announced that the Government will adopt measures to counteract the impact of rising fuel prices, in the context of the war in the Middle East.
We remind that on Tuesday the Government postponed the meeting in which it was supposed to adopt the limitation of the commercial markup on fuels, due to the lack of approval from the Economic and Social Council (CES). The President of CES, Sterică Fudulea, stated that the current form of the ordinance does not effectively address the issue of rising gasoline and diesel prices.
Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated on Tuesday evening that the Government will adopt, on Wednesday afternoon or at the latest Thursday, a first ordinance. At the same time, he emphasized that discussions will continue rapidly, with a tripartite Council scheduled for Wednesday, involving the government, trade unions, and employers.
The plenary session of the Economic and Social Council (CES) is expected to take place at 12:30.
