The Chang'e-7 mission, which was set to be launched in the coming days from the Wenchang Space Launch Center in China, has been postponed by Chinese authorities for unspecified reasons.
The China National Space Administration announced that the mission does not meet the necessary conditions for launch and that it will not be able to take place within the planned window for this year. The decision was made following a comprehensive assessment, based on the principles of caution and reliability.
Chang'e-7, the fourth mission in the Chinese lunar exploration program, aimed to explore permanently shadowed craters on the Moon and study resources at the lunar south pole.
Chang'e is the name of the Moon goddess in Chinese mythology, and previous missions, such as Chang'e-6, have been successful, returning with rock and soil samples from the far side of the Moon.
