On Wednesday, at 09:35 AM (Romania time), a SpaceX rocket carrying two lunar landers and scientific instruments will strike the surface of the Moon with a force equivalent to three tons of TNT. The impact will create a crater approximately 27 meters wide and 5 meters deep, observable by nearby spacecraft such as NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter and South Korea's Danuri.

Although the collision will not be visible to the naked eye, it is expected that the dust and debris generated will be observable from Earth. This collision provides researchers with a rare opportunity to study the behavior of lunar dust and assess risks for astronauts in future missions. Additionally, the incident highlights the issue of space debris and the risks associated with accidental collisions. This is the second time a non-functional rocket has hit the Moon, the first being an incident involving a Chinese spacecraft in 2022.
