The National Administration Apele Române (ANAR) announced that it will not extend the rental contracts for the beaches on the coast, which expire in October 2025, and will organize open public tenders to ensure transparency and equal opportunities for all operators. This decision has generated negative reactions from beach operators, who accuse a lack of transparency and the waste of investments made in recent years. ANAR justified the measure by the desire to correct the irregularities found in the management of the beaches and to protect public assets. The Minister of Environment, Diana Buzoianu, supported the decision, mentioning that the old contracts were disadvantageous for the state. Beach operators quickly criticized the speed with which decisions were made and announced the organization of a press conference to express their dissatisfaction. ANAR will expand the areas available for rent and will allocate 50% of the revenues obtained to the state budget, the rest being intended for the maintenance of the beaches.
