On Monday, September 14, Mihai Dimian delivered an unusual message at the opening of the academic year at the “Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Life Sciences in Iași. At the end of the official speech, he resorted to verses about cows, farmers, artificial intelligence, and the profession of veterinary medicine. In his address, the minister spoke about investments made in education and projects carried out at universities. Mihai Dimian mentioned that this year, 60 projects for the digitalization of universities had been funded, with a total value of approximately one billion lei. He noted that managing the programs had been difficult, amid decisions made at the last moment.
Subsequently, the minister delivered a quatrain to the students about the role of agricultural specialists. “When the little cow gives no milk / And AI is in vain / We realize that there is a need / For a doctor,” said Mihai Dimian. The message continued with references to farmers and engineers. The minister then invited the rector of USV Iași, Gerard Jităreanu, to come up on stage. After the rector declined, Mihai Dimian dedicated another quatrain to him, about the university’s investments and choosing a leader capable of managing them.
