Starting next year, the Ministry of Education will introduce the subject “Artificial Intelligence and Digital Citizenship” for high school students

Starting next year, the Ministry of Education will introduce the subject “Artificial Intelligence and Digital Citizenship” into the student-choice curriculum for grades 9, 10, 11 and 12. The new subject aims to prepare high school students to use technology responsibly and understand the risks associated with artificial intelligence.

The syllabus will include topics related to personal data protection. Students will learn that information entered into artificial intelligence applications may be stored and used later, and will be encouraged to read platform rules and avoid transmitting unnecessary confidential data.

Another objective is to develop critical thinking in the face of disinformation. Lessons will address content generated or modified with the help of AI, including images, videos and deepfake recordings. Students will learn to verify information and distinguish between artificial content, deceptive material and credible sources.

The syllabus will also address the risks of discrimination produced by algorithms, as well as criteria such as fairness, transparency and accountability. In addition, students will study copyright, the originality of work created with AI, ethical conduct, and academic and professional integrity.
