Nine out of ten teenagers in Romania use artificial intelligence for learning or creative activities at least once a month, according to a study conducted by Livity at Google’s initiative. The data shows that AI tools have become part of young people’s digital routine, both for school and for developing creativity.
Fifty-six percent of teenagers say they use artificial intelligence for creative projects, while the same percentage use these tools daily or almost daily in the learning process. Forty-nine percent use them for homework and school support, 26% for writing creative texts, and 23% for generating images.
Artificial intelligence is also used to discover new interests or skills, mentioned by 29% of respondents. In addition, 64% believe that AI helps them develop their creativity, 44% say it personalizes their learning experience, and 42% say they can learn at their own pace.
The internet is also used for entertainment, relationships and information. Forty percent of teenagers access it regularly for entertainment, 39% to keep in touch with family and friends, and 38% for hobbies. Thirty-six percent use it for news, while 34% use it for educational materials. Videos are watched almost daily by 59% of respondents.
The study also indicates a concern about verifying information: 76% say they assess whether it is credible. However, 45% believe they spend more time online than they would like. To maintain balance, teenagers choose time with family and friends, offline hobbies or limits on screen use.
