Four Romanians were stopped in Spain with eight bags of stripped copper / One was arrested, while the driver tested positive for drugs

Four Romanians were stopped by the Civil Guard in the Spanish province of Zamora after the car they were traveling in attracted attention with its unusual maneuvers. Eight bags containing stripped copper cable were found in the trunk, and the four are being investigated for alleged burglary.

The stop took place on the CL-612 road, at the entrance to the town of Villalpando. The officers found that the copper wires had been stripped of their plastic coating and showed traces that allegedly indicated treatment by burning. The occupants claimed that the material came from a job and had been given to them by the owner of a construction site, but they provided no documents, specific details, or contact who could confirm their explanation.

The four were taken to the Civil Guard headquarters for checks. One of them was the subject of three judicial warrants, including one for search, arrest, and appearance before the judicial authority, and was therefore detained. According to the authorities, all of them had numerous prior offenses.

The driver tested positive for cocaine and THC, and administrative proceedings were initiated against him. The other three Romanians did not have driving licenses, which is why the car was immobilized. The cable was confiscated, and the persons under investigation, the documents, and the seized material were placed at the disposal of the court.
