The operators of gas transport systems in Romania, Greece, Bulgaria, Ukraine, and Moldova have signed a joint letter requesting the approval of two new cross-border capacity products, Route 2 and Route 3. These routes will allow the delivery of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Ukraine through Greek terminals, thereby enhancing the energy security of the region. The swift approval of these routes is essential for diversifying supply sources and reducing dependence on Russian gas.
During the P-TEC Ministerial Meeting in Athens, the operators agreed to apply significant tariff reductions to encourage the use of the new capacity. Routes 2 and 3 will facilitate the transport of gas from Greece to Ukraine, contributing to a more interconnected and resilient European energy market. The directors of the operators emphasized the importance of these initiatives for the energy security of Southeast and Central Europe, noting that these routes will provide attractive trading opportunities for gas traders.
