AUR organized an “Open Doors Day” on Tuesday morning at the party headquarters in the Government area, while farmers’ protest was taking place in Victory Square. Around 09:30, the party’s leader, George Simion, took the stage at the headquarters in Bucharest, where he delivered a message to approximately 100 participants.
Simion told those present that they were welcome to visit the headquarters and talk to the party’s parliamentarians. He expressed solidarity with farmers and those who produce food, then urged participants to remain peaceful and not to allow themselves to become involved in any potential provocations.
The AUR leader stated that the protest would continue throughout the day and would be one of “endurance,” noting that the party headquarters is located near the demonstration. The day before, participants had been urged, through the party’s internal channels, to come to Bucharest without AUR insignia.
George Simion has also been involved in mobilizing protesters. During the pandemic, he took part in demonstrations against restrictions, masks, and mandatory vaccination, negotiating with gendarmes and coordinating the chants in the streets.
