Donald Tusk announced on platform X that on the railway route Warsaw–Lublin, in the village of Mika, an act of sabotage took place, confirming the darkest suspicions. An explosion destroyed the railway line, and emergency services and the prosecutor's office are on site to investigate. The Prime Minister of Poland condemned the incident as an unprecedented act of sabotage directed against the security of the state and its citizens. Poland reported that a train mechanic noticed damage on the line, and local media emphasizes that this is the first incident of this type since World War II.
Polish authorities have also reported acts of sabotage in recent years, in the context of the war in Ukraine, and Warsaw has warned that its role as a logistics hub for aid destined for Ukraine makes it a target for such attacks. Moscow has denied any involvement, although Poland has previously condemned members of groups suspected of links to Russia.
