The Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that Germany should not pursue criminal charges against the suspects involved in the destruction of the Nord Stream pipeline, emphasizing that those who built these pipelines should be ashamed, not those who sabotaged them.
His comments came after the arrest of a Ukrainian suspect, Vladimir Juravlev, in Croatia, based on a European warrant issued by Germany.
Tusk mentioned that Poland opposed the Nord Stream 2 project, warning that it would deepen Europe's dependence on Russian energy.
He emphasized that Germany changed its opinion too late.
Juravlev, who denies involvement, is accused by German prosecutors of sabotage, being suspected of participating in placing explosives on the Nord Stream pipelines.
Additionally, another suspect, Serhii K., a former Ukrainian military officer, has been accused of orchestrating the attack, but he also denies any involvement.
The sabotage occurred in September 2022, damaging the pipelines and halting Russian gas deliveries to Europe.
