The annual inflation rate reached 6.2% in August 2026, according to data published Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS). In June 2026, the annual inflation rate had been 10.4%.
Compared with July 2026, the consumer price index increased by 0.22%. Since the beginning of the year, namely in August 2026 compared with December 2025, the inflation rate was 4.6%.
The average rate of change in consumer prices over the last 12 months, September 2025–August 2026, compared with the previous 12 months, was 9.5%.
According to the harmonised index of consumer prices, used for European-level comparisons, prices increased by 0.26% in August compared with July. The annual inflation rate calculated using the HICP was 6.3%, while the average rate for the last 12 months was 8.6%, INS also reported.
