Poland: Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the arrest of a Russian citizen who was allegedly recruited by Moscow to carry out an attack on an American-Ukrainian citizen.

Donald Tusk announced on Thursday the arrest of a Russian citizen, suspected of being recruited by Moscow to carry out an attack on an American-Ukrainian citizen in Warsaw. Tusk stated that this incident was considered extremely embarrassing for Vladimir Putin's regime and that the attack was thwarted "at the last moment." The arrest took place on August 7, carried out by the Polish Internal Security Agency (ABW) and police, in collaboration with American services.

The Prime Minister emphasized that this is the first time such an incident, in which an American citizen becomes the target of a Russian order on the territory of a NATO state, has been reported. Tusk also mentioned that, in June, the Russian cartoonist Semion Skrepebski, a critic of Putin, was killed in Poland, suggesting a trend of political assassination. Polish authorities have constantly warned about the risks of sabotage from Russia, in the context of the war in Ukraine. Moscow has denied any involvement in these attacks.
