Donald Tusk warns that Poland must be prepared for any scenario following Russian attacks near the border

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk warns that Poland must be prepared for “various scenarios” following new Russian attacks on western Ukraine, near the Polish border. In response to the attacks, Warsaw scrambled fighter jets, issued alerts for the Podkarpackie and Lublin regions, and detected a drone approaching Polish territory.

Tusk said that Russia is “planning something bad” and that the authorities must base their decisions on facts. He also invoked the lesson of the Soviet attack on Poland on September 17, 1939, warning that any aggression against the country will receive a determined response from Poland and its allies.

Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz described the security situation as “the most dangerous” and said that Russia’s actions are no longer isolated incidents but part of a strategy of pressure against NATO, the European Union and Poland. The official warned that Russia “will not stop in Ukraine” and will resort to new provocations.

The attacks took place near the Ukrainian locality of Jagodzin, close to Dorohusk, where a major explosion was reported. The Defence Minister called on local authorities to prepare for the most difficult scenarios and signed an agreement to intensify security cooperation.
