Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, declared that the authorities will accelerate the legislative procedure to ban access to social networks for children under 15 years old, with the measure set to come into effect in September, coinciding with the new school year. Additionally, a ban on mobile phones in high schools is being prepared in response to concerns about the impact of technology on the health and development of children. Macron emphasized that the emotions and brains of young people should not be manipulated by digital platforms.

This initiative comes against the backdrop of studies showing the negative effects of social media use, including decreased self-esteem and exposure to dangerous content. Macron promised a simplified bill that will clarify these prohibitions for teenagers, families, and teachers. This move aligns with international trends, such as measures adopted in Australia to protect children online.
