The mission was carried out following recent violations of Polish airspace by Russian drones, considered the most significant breaches since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine. The operation also involves equipment from Denmark, France, and Germany, highlighting the United Kingdom's commitment to NATO. Russia's actions have led to a maximum alert in Europe, with interventions from the air forces of Poland and other NATO member states. There have also been interceptions of Russian aircraft in Estonian airspace.
