Starting from December 14, 2025, train tickets will be increased by 9.88% as a result of indexing with the inflation rate, according to the law. The General Director of CFR Călători, Traian Preoteasa, confirmed that this adjustment is provided by law and there will be no other price increases. The new Train Schedule 2025-2026 will not bring significant changes, but intercity routes will be established in the large areas of the country.

Preoteasa mentioned that additional equipment, through contracts with Alstom, will allow the introduction of new routes, but the existing infrastructure hinders the progress of the trains. The last update of the fares took place on December 15, 2024, when tickets were increased by 4.6%. Additionally, another increase occurred on July 31, 2025, due to the increase in VAT.
