The first real estate transaction in Romania, in which the payment for an apartment was made through cryptocurrencies, took place in Brașov, with a value of 369,000 euros. The transaction was converted into EUR, a regulated digital currency, and was processed through Monerium, an authorized institution in the European Economic Area.

The apartment, located in the historic center of Brașov, has been recently renovated, preserving original architectural elements and featuring a design inspired by the Japanese wabi-sabi philosophy. Cristian Șoaită, development director of Romania Sotheby's International Realty, emphasized the importance of digitizing the real estate market. Sotheby's auction house has been a pioneer in accepting cryptocurrencies, having international precedent in this field. Romania Sotheby's specializes in trading historical and artistic properties in Romania.
