Before the Brașov case, the authorities carried out Operation “Jupiter 6” on November 2, 2026, in Bucharest and several counties, with 39 operational actions and 202 home searches, plus 23 summons warrants. The investigations were coordinated by the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice and by the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police and targeted, among other things, tax evasion, money laundering, smuggling, corruption, sexual offenses against minors, poaching, illegal tree felling, and violations of the firearms and ammunition regulations.
During the same period, there were also real estate fraud investigations: in Iași, police investigated an alleged scheme involving estimated losses of approximately 7 million euros, in which the same apartments were allegedly promised or sold at least twice (between 2023 and 2026) to different buyers, with down payments made without the new buyers knowing that the properties had already been transferred.
