Operation Jupiter: The Romanian Police are carrying out 91 operational actions and 397 searches. The damages in the cases exceed 33 million lei

On Thursday, as part of Operation “JUPITER,” the Romanian Police are carrying out 91 operational actions and executing 397 home search warrants in Bucharest and several counties. The operation is coordinated by the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice and the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police.

The investigations target offenses including tax evasion, smuggling, money laundering, embezzlement, fraud, forgery, theft, pimping, attempted murder and sexual offenses committed against minors. According to the Romanian Police, the damages identified in the investigated cases exceed 33,090,760 lei.

An important component of the actions is the recovery of damages. Investigators are seeking to identify assets and valuables derived from criminal activities, freeze them and impose precautionary seizures.

The investigations also target the illegal possession of weapons and ammunition, including products ordered online, as well as environmental offenses: waste management and abandonment, unauthorized vehicle dismantling, and the illegal cutting and theft of trees. In parallel, summons warrants are being executed and the persons concerned are being questioned.

Before Thursday’s action, the Romanian Police and prosecutors had previously conducted Operation “JUPITER 6”; on Tuesday, 67 operational actions were announced in Bucharest and several counties, involving the execution of 304 home search warrants, while on Monday 202 searches had taken place and 23 escort warrants had been issued.

Investigators also considered aspects related to firearms and ammunition regulations: in a case handled as part of the same operation, police searched influencer Iulian Demeter’s home after the online purchase of an airsoft pistol was reported, allegedly due to a lack of documents showing its origin and the failure to clarify the conditions of purchase.
