The police in Bucharest are conducting searches in a tax evasion and embezzlement case / Ten commercial spaces are said to have been sold at undervalued prices

Bucharest police launched, on Wednesday, searches at the residence of an individual and at the offices of some companies, in a case of tax evasion and embezzlement with particularly serious consequences. A representative of some craft cooperatives is accused of selling ten commercial spaces at undervalued prices, causing a damage estimated at almost one million euros.

According to investigators, during the period 2023-2024, the decision-makers within the two cooperatives allegedly carried out these sales, causing a damage of 888,725 euros. Additionally, income taxes for certain transactions, amounting to 216,093 lei, were not withheld and transferred to the state budget. The action was supported by specialists from the National Institute of Forensic Science and teams from the Independent Service for Interventions and Special Actions.
