According to the 'Politbarometer' survey conducted by ZDF, AfD would win the general elections with 27% of the votes, followed by the CDU/CSU bloc with 22%. Both parties have lost one percentage point compared to the previous survey.

The Greens are in third place with 14%, while SPD and the Left maintain 12%. FDP remains below the electoral threshold, with 4%. These results suggest that the current governing coalition would no longer have a majority. However, 64% of respondents would not accept AfD leading the regional government, and 60% believe that an AfD government would be weak.

Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil has supported the possibility of banning AfD, which is being investigated for extremism. He advocated for maintaining the 'sanitary cordon' against alliances with AfD, highlighting the risks associated with the rise of this nationalist party.
