Cities in Romania face frequent flooding due to accelerated urbanization and climate change, which are overwhelming sewage systems. The World Bank estimates losses of €1.7bn a year from flooding. Expert Dan Rădulescu proposes green solutions such as rain gardens and artificial wetlands that use natural processes to manage stormwater. These solutions not only reduce flood risks but also improve urban quality of life. Romania urgently needs investment in green infrastructure to face the climate challenges.
