The MFA warns that Serbian transporters will block the border with the EU, and freight traffic will be halted for an indefinite period

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warns that Serbian freight carriers intend to organize, starting Monday, September 14, 2026, at 00:00, a protest at all border crossing points toward the European Union. The action is expected to continue for an indefinite period and will also affect the border crossing points between Serbia and Romania.

According to the MFA, the entry, exit, and transit of freight transport vehicles through the affected points will not be possible. In Romania, the crossings Srpska Crnja–Jimbolia and Vatin–Stamora Moravița, in Timiș County, Đerdap–Porțile de Fier 1, in Mehedinți County, as well as Kaluderovo–Naidăș, in Caraș-Severin County, are mentioned.

The protest will also affect other Serbian border crossing points toward EU countries, including Batrovci, Šid, Horgoš, Kelebija, Bački Breg, Gradina, Vrška Čuka, and Merdare. The intermodal terminal of the Port of Novi Sad could also be disrupted.

The MFA recommends that Romanians who are in, transiting, or intending to travel to or from Serbia avoid the affected areas, reschedule their trips, or choose alternative routes.

Travelers are advised to constantly check the traffic situation, follow the authorities’ instructions, and have reserves of fuel, water, and food.
