Cseke Attila Calls for the Rapid Installation of a Government with Full Powers for the Budget Revision Needed in Healthcare

Acting Minister of Health Cseke Attila stated on Wednesday, September 9, in Iași, that Romania urgently needs a fully empowered government to adopt the budget rectification. He warned that county ambulance services and Emergency Reception Units do not have sufficient funds to cover all expenses through the end of the year.

Cseke pointed out that budget rectifications are usually carried out in July or August, or in September at the latest. In the absence of an invested government, however, the procedure cannot be completed, because the acting government has limited powers and cannot adopt a budget rectification.

According to the acting minister, the budget for 2026 does not fully cover the costs necessary for the operation of ambulance services and emergency reception units through the end of the year. He argued that state spending needs to be rearranged by increasing or reducing certain allocations.

Cseke also said that the installation of a government with a parliamentary majority is in Romania’s interest. Otherwise, temporary majorities could be formed in Parliament to support certain projects, which would create additional difficulties.

He added that a government that subsequently loses its majority would be preferable to the current acting-government situation.
