Uber Technologies has announced an investment of over 100 million dollars for the development of dedicated charging hubs for autonomous vehicles, marking an important step in expanding its operations with driverless cars. This investment will include the construction of fast DC charging stations in autonomous depots and in strategic locations in priority cities, starting with the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and Dallas. Autonomous vehicles are a strategic priority for Uber, which collaborates with over 20 global companies in the field of freight transport and autonomous deliveries. The company has formed partnerships with charging station operators, such as EVgo and Electra, to install hundreds of new stations in high-demand cities. Uber already offers robotaxi services in four cities in the US and collaborates with specialized firms, such as Waymo and WeRide, for the operation of autonomous fleets.
