The Bucharest City Hall announced on Friday that it will set up 122 charging stations for electric buses and will renovate the parking platforms at the Berceni, Bujoreni, and Bucharest Noi depots. The project, funded by European funds, must be completed by December 2023 to avoid losing 52.2 million euros. The works began last month after the general mayor Ciprian Ciucu gave the order to start.

Workers are dismantling the trolleybus catenary network and modifying the space to create a work front. In total, 55 stations will be at the Berceni Depot, 52 at Bujoreni, and 15 at Bucharest Noi. The project aims to set up the necessary infrastructure for the operation of the 100 recently purchased electric buses. Although the vehicles are already operating in Bucharest, the insufficient number of charging stations limits their simultaneous operation.
