Two police officers were attacked on Sunday during an intervention in Bacău County, after they were called to intervene following a conflict. One of the officers was struck, while the other fired warning shots to stop the aggression.
The incident took place in the locality of Nicolae Bălcescu, where the officers from the 5th Rural Police Station in Răcăciuni were called to intervene at a public disturbance. At the scene, the officers identified several individuals, and two men became aggressive, attempting to strike the police officers. Following the attack, one of the officers was hit with a blunt object, and to protect himself, the other officer fired warning shots in a vertical plane. The aggressors fled but were later subdued and taken to the police station. The injured officer received medical care without needing hospitalization.
The Bacău Police Inspectorate has opened a criminal case, and investigations are ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the incident and to assess possible preventive measures against the aggressors.
