AUR proposes amending the Constitution for the rapid resolution of governmental crises

The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) announced that it will propose amendments to the Constitution of Romania to introduce clear deadlines for the president to appoint a prime minister, following the current political crisis.

Representatives of AUR, gathered in the National Leadership Council of Mehedinți County, emphasized through a statement sent to the press the "vulnerabilities of the current constitutional mechanisms," mentioning that Nicușor Dan's refusal to nominate a new prime minister could lead to early elections.

AUR proposes that, in the event that the president does not designate a candidate within the established deadline, their mandate should cease by law.

AUR also proposes that Parliament can be dissolved if, within 60 days of rejecting two requests for investiture, a vote of confidence for the formation of the Government is not granted.

According to the party, the amendments aim to reduce the possibility of institutional blockages and to establish clearer procedures in the event of political crises.
