The President of the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP), Adrian Zăbăuianu, brought into discussion the inappropriate behaviors of some employees, mentioning that they organized a "club" in an office, where they gathered with hookahs and other facilities to relax during working hours.
Zăbăuianu emphasized that some employees, often those hired without a competition, have developed a culture of litigation, with 5-6% of them having lawsuits against the institution. Currently, AEP is facing 28 cases in court, and the estimated damage exceeds 2 million lei. The president explained that these lawsuits are often initiated by those who wish to regain their status as high public officials, thus benefiting from substantial salaries and other privileges.
Zăbăuianu mentioned that the Court of Accounts has requested measures to remedy the situation, including notifying the DNA for possible criminal acts committed by employees.
