The Romanian government published on Saturday the list of companies that hold technical connection approval (ATR) to the electricity network, following statements by Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, who announced measures against the "smart boys" who block the implementation of energy projects.

Currently, approvals are issued for a total capacity of 80,000 MW, nearly ten times more than the current energy needs of the country. The executive emphasized that a significant portion of these reserved capacities are not making actual progress.

The list includes over 1400 ATRs, but it is not exhaustive, including only entities that hold at least 1 MW. Data analysis shows that most companies have zero turnover and many have no employees, which is common in the field of photovoltaic projects. It was also found that 76% of companies had zero turnover in 2024, and over half have a share capital of less than 10,000 lei.

The publication of the list aims to ensure transparency in the process of issuing ATRs.
