The Romanian government adopted on Thursday the Risk Preparation Plan in the field of electricity, which establishes the necessary procedures in case of an energy crisis. According to this plan, Transelectrica will be able to notify large consumers 24 hours before limiting energy consumption and, in certain situations, will be able to announce companies that are about to be disconnected from the National Energy System.
Although these measures are now possible, the authorities have emphasized that Romania is not currently in a critical situation. The adoption of this plan is a standard procedure, necessary to avoid a potential infringement procedure, being in compliance with a European regulation. Transelectrica will use consumption forecast data to manage energy demand and prevent potential crises.
