Sorin Grindeanu: “The effect of the disastrous economic measures taken by Bolojan is that Romania has been overtaken by countries such as Kenya in the global competitiveness ranking!”

PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu claims that Romania has dropped 12 positions in a single year in the global competitiveness ranking and says that our country has been overtaken by Kenya. The statements were made on Tuesday, in a social media post in which the Social Democrat criticized the economic policies promoted by Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.

“The effect of the disastrous economic measures taken by Bolojan is that Romania has been overtaken by countries such as Kenya in the global competitiveness ranking!

We have fallen 12 places in the global competitiveness ranking in just one year! A year in which Romanian companies received not support measures to help them face global competition, but tax increases and record-high prices for energy, gas, and fuel.

Exactly one year has passed since the PSD announced a plan with solutions for restarting the economy, based on massive tax incentives for new investments. From then until today, Bolojan’s interest in this subject has been ZERO!

Now, we are ending up competing with Botswana, Nigeria, and Namibia, because countries in the region—such as Bulgaria or Poland—are already ahead of us.

These are Romania’s bleak prospects if it continues with a Bolojan-style government that is strangling the economy.

This is why Romania cannot continue with a “slash-and-burn administrator.” It needs a government that builds and values supporting Romanian companies,” PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu says on Facebook.
