Sorin Grindeanu: Foreign investment in Romania must become a priority again / “In the last year alone, it has decreased by over 80%!”

PSD President Sorin Grindeanu says that foreign investment must once again become a priority for any government, after, according to him, it fell by more than 80% over the past year. The statement was made on Wednesday, following a meeting with the ambassadors of France, Germany, and the United Kingdom in Romania, to whom the PSD leader presented the party’s solutions for relaunching the economy and supporting the private sector.

Grindeanu maintains that PSD is prepared to assume responsibility and discuss with all democratic forces interested in forming a majority around a governing program. However, he specified that the party will not support a return to the policies that, he claims, generated the current economic problems. In his view, merely changing the composition of the government, without changing its approaches, would not resolve the crisis but would maintain political instability.

The Social Democratic leader reaffirmed PSD’s pro-European and Euro-Atlantic orientation and announced that the party already has ten priorities outlined. These include reducing the budget deficit through economic growth, more efficient tax collection, and streamlining the administration, rather than through measures that would exclusively affect employees, pensioners, families, and public services.
